Avoca Volunteer Fire Department relies on donations to maintain and update our equipment. While the volunteer fire departments in Sullivan County receive maintenance funding from the Sullivan County Commission, additional funding is needed by all departments to keep equipment updated, and to meet regulatory requirements from various sources, such as N.F.P.A., TOSHA, I.S.O., etc.

Your contributions helps maintain and upgrade our equipment and provide training for personnel, thereby allowing us to earn a lower
ISO (Insurance Services Office) protection class rating.

ISO class ratings run from one through ten, with one being the best and ten the lowest. Property insurance premiums in areas rated 1-6 are pretty much equal, but there is an increase of 50% or more in areas rated 7-10. Avoca VFD has recently been reclassifed to ISO Class 5, an improvement from the Class 6 we formerly held. We encourage residents in the Avoca VFD area to check with your insurance agent to determine the actual savings you enjoy by living here as compared to an ISO 10 area.

Historically, Avoca V.F.D. has received outstanding support from the community we serve, through our annual community fund raising drive.

Support from homeowners and businesses in our area have been good, but we now have to spend more time on other fundraising efforts. Non-traditional sources are being explored, including application to various Grant programs. All of these efforts are consuming much of our volunteer's time, so any donations are greatly appreciated.

Avoca Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. is incorporated by The State Of Tennessee as a Non-Profit Organization.
